ENT Consultation
A formal meeting with an ENT Specialist
for discussion or seeking of advice regarding hearing health.
Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)
Is the key hearing test used to identify hearing threshold levels of an individual, enabling determination of the degree, type and configuration of a hearing loss using puretone.
Tympanometry
Is an examination used to test the condition of the middle ear, mobility of the eardrum and the conduction bones by creating variations of air pressure in the ear canal.
Play Audiometry
A behavioral testing in which the child is trained to perform an activity each time a sound is heard. The activity may involve putting a block in a box, plucking peg in a hole, or putting a ring in a cone.
Speech Audiometry
Evaluation of speech processing is an important component of the diagnostic audiological evaluation. Speech thresholds provide validating data for pure tone thresholds. Speech recognition scores contribute to decisions regarding site of lesion and development of rehabilitation strategies.
Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR)
Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER)
Electrical activity generated by the eighth cranial nerve and neural centers, tracts within the brainstem that are responsive to auditory stimulation. Can be recorded in newborns, infants, children, and adults with excellent reliability, providing the clinician with a robust diagnostic tool with both neurological and audiological applications.
